Tips to Make Fitness a Lifestyle!

I won’t go into too much detail in this post. I’ll just highlight some of the essential exercise tips I think are important for anyone following a fitness program. The key is not to just train, but to train smart. The smarter you train, the better chance you will commit to be fit! If you are new to working out or want to move into a new direction with your training, an Online Personal Trainer may be just what you need.

SET GOALS and MAKE A PLAN

Have specific, measurable goals to give you direction along with a plan to get there!

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Make it a habit to get moving on a regular basis.

GET A BUDDY

For support and accountability.

DO WHAT YOU LIKE!

You are more likely to stick with something you enjoy. Don’t worry about the latest fade or what your friends are doing.

MAKE APPOINTMENTS

On Sunday make weekly appointments with yourself to exercise and keep them!

NOTEBOOK

To track your progress. Write down your workouts, weights, distance, reps and even how you feel.

EQUIPMENT

Good shoes, comfortable clothes, a water bottle and your body is all you need to get started. All the other stuff is extra.

WARM UP

Take time to prepare your body for a workout to enhance performance and prevent injury.

PROPER FORM

Prevents injury and the body gets the intended benefit from the exercise.

COOL DOWN

To get your heart rate and breathing back to normal, help prevent soreness and injury.

STRETCH

Stretch all major muscle groups when you are done to lessen soreness, improve mobility and flexibility.

SORENESS

Move your body to get the blood flowing to aid in recovery along with drinking lots of water and fueling your body with proper nutrition. Increase intensity gradually.

RECOVERY

Take one step back to gain two steps forward. Take time out from your usual workout routine to stretch, have a massage, do mobility work or just take a long walk in nature.

IMPROVE YOUR NUTRITION

Not a specific exercise tip, but if you clean this up you will most definitely get the best results with your exercise.

HOW OFTEN DO I TRAIN?

Depends on your goals. Strength train at least 2-3 days a week. Add in energy training on your off days to burn more fat and improve your cardiovascular system.

If you need help designing a personalized exercise and nutrition program, an Online Personal Trainer could be your solution.

Bottom Line: Fitness is a Lifestyle!
